Hi there 👋🏽
I know this is an unscheduled post (I usually don’t drop in your inbox on Sundays) but given that this newsletter is about celebrating humans who are doing kick-ass things while raising mini humans I had to say something today - a day when we celebrate Mothers.
The post that I am sharing with you today was something I wrote last year on my Facebook page as I celebrated my first Mother’s Day as a mom. At that point I had no idea that a year out we would still be in the middle of a pandemic.
While all moms must be celebrated (it is for most part a very very demanding job with no breaks) I do strongly feel for the cohort that became moms for the first time in the middle of a pandemic.
Below is my shout-out to these wonderful ladies…
No one really plans to give birth in the middle of a pandemic but babies are born and moms are made.
Here is to the Mom Class of 2020-21 - Women who have become mothers for the first time.
It is hard to bring your baby into a world which feels like a war zone, it is hard to go through labor alone, it is hard to meet your baby for the first time through a face mask, it is hard to have all your care delivered virtually, it hard to not have most of your family & friends meet your child and not know when they will.
But babies are born and moms are made.
To all the women who became moms in the last 14 months, this will just make us mentally and emotionally stronger and apparently you need a LOT of that to raise another human being.
To all the babies born in the last 14 months, your laughter and smile melts away our worries. In a world filled with turmoil you bring us comfort. Thank you for coming into our world!
I would love to hear from you, feedback is always welcome!
